App Terms of Service

Effective Date: April 19, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) explain how you may use the otio mobile app (“otio,” “we,” “our,” or the “App”). By using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

About the App

otio is a mobile app designed to help users track emotions, reflect, and support mental well-being.

You may use otio for personal and professional contexts (for example, as part of your own wellness or in support of clinical conversations), subject to these Terms and applicable law.

Unless we explicitly grant permission, you may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from the App.

Health Disclaimer

otio is not a medical device and does not provide medical, psychiatric, or therapeutic diagnosis, treatment, or advice. Content and AI-generated insights are informational only.

Always consult a licensed healthcare professional for medical or mental health concerns. If you are in immediate danger or crisis, call emergency services right away.

Accounts and Access

To use core authenticated features, you may sign in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and device.

We may suspend or terminate access if required to protect users, comply with law, or enforce these Terms.

Data and Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy: https://otio.world/app-privacy-policy

In summary:

  • We store app data using Firebase services.

  • Data is encrypted in transit.

  • Sensitive stored app data is protected with AES-256 encryption.

  • If you enable AI insights, relevant emotion-log content is sent to our AI processing provider to generate those insights.

  • We use Firebase Analytics (GA4) for privacy-conscious product telemetry.

You can export your data within the App and delete your account/data using in-app account controls (or by contacting us if needed). Deleting your account removes app account data in our app database, but analytics systems are separate and may retain previously processed analytics data according to their own retention settings and policies.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • use the App for unlawful, harmful, or abusive conduct

  • interfere with the App’s operation or security

  • attempt unauthorized access to systems or data

  • misuse the App in ways that could harm other users or us

Third-Party Services

The App relies on third-party services (for example, Apple, Google/Firebase, and AI processing providers). Their availability and behavior may affect App functionality. We are not responsible for outages or changes in third-party services.

No Warranty

The App is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or non-infringement.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, otio and its affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of (or inability to use) the App.

You use the App at your own risk.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the Effective Date and provide notice where required. Continued use of the App after updated Terms are posted means you accept the revised Terms.
